youwantyourfreedom TAKEIT that'swhati'mcountingon IUSEDTOWANTYOUDEAD - - - He would have spent that day curled up with a book in the back corner of the shop if his manager had let him. But no, he had things to do despite his immense headache from being dragged out to some party last night by Bryan. The bright light at the front of the store burned his eyes but what could he do about it? He didn’t want to lose his job; that would mean losing the employee discount on the books there which he really did use. A lot. He went through books faster than a wood chipper. James’ room was turning into a bookstore all its own. Romance novels covered his long wall, other fiction and nonfiction mixed in around the others. He’d gotten rid of his desk and blocked out his window with stacks of books all ready; he was running out of room. Perhaps he had a problem. Perhaps he just really needed to give some books away. No matter. That Friday afternoon found him lounging at the counter reading the Forgotten Daughter for a fourth time and propping his feet on said counter. He’d pushed the encounter with that strange boy online out of his mind; it meant nothing to him now. Anyway, he was on work; he couldn’t let trivial things bother him. Except for that damn fly. Said fly did another loop around his head. It landed on his ear and he swatted at it, unhappy. It relocated to his forehead. He slapped his book into it. Just then the bell at the door that signaled someone’s entrance rang.

Jacobi couldn't help but smile as he looked in the bookstore window and saw the person he'd been looking for. Normally, he wouldn't go out of his way to meet anyone, especially not someone he met just recently over the Internet. But something about him- Jay- had peaked his interest. Over the computer he had definitely not seemed like his type, which was usually the back boy rocker types. But he wasn't one to judge, well not much, so when he got the urge to meet this man in person, he decided not to fight it.
Opening the door, he entered the small book store. He had been in here a few times before, and each other time it had been equally empty. But not as cold, he noted, as the hairs on his bare arms stood on end and goosebumps rose on his skin. It was awfully hot outside, so Jacobi had prepared by wearing his black skinny jeans but with only tank top. The severe temperature drop inside the book store was both refreshing and ice cold at the same time.
He walked up to the counter in his confidant cocky manner, with a bounce in his step His camera bounced against his chest, suspended by the strap which was around his neck, with each step he took. "Why hello there." Jacobi said, leaning one elbow on the icy hard surface of the counter top. "Jay?" He spoke his name just to be sure, even though he was almost one hundred percent positive he had the correct person.

youwantyourfreedom TAKEIT that'swhati'mcountingon IUSEDTOWANTYOUDEAD - - - James heard his go-by name and dropped his book, sighing. It really was the guy, wasn’t it? Well, the fly had escaped and now he had someone talking to him. Yes. Wonderful. Just freaking wonderful. He took a taxing deep breath and turned, finding the water bottle he usually kept next to him and watering the lily on the counter. “Jay. James. Silas. Whatever you want to call me, I don’t care, but yes, it’s me,” he said, monotonic voice unchanging. His usual half-frown expression didn’t change either. He yawned. It had been a long week. Too long. He was ready to curl up in the corner and sleep for days. Maybe that was just the headache talking. He set his water bottle down and slowly raised his eyes to meet Jacobi’s. Silas was always tentative about making eye contact, he’d been told too many times people were scared of hid empty eyes. He flicked them away, they centered on his watch hand. Or what would be his watch hand if he had a watch, then jittered away to watch the fly buzz across the room as happily as ever. As alive as ever. “Damn fly,” he muttered. He shook his head. Not the time to be worried about bugs. He forced himself to look in Jacobi’s direction again. “Are you here to buy books or to chat?” he asked flatly.

Jacobi raised one eyebrow as Jay spoke. He was certainly an interesting character, this one. "I'll stick to Jay." He stated, just as flatly. Biting on the inside of his left lip piercing, he looked around the store. The iciness of the store had become numb to him now, no longer feeling the sting of cold shiver down his body. This place looked so.. boring. Sure, he read some books now and then, if they caught his interest. But he wasn't going to lie. He came here purposely just to talk to Jay.
"Well, my intention was to come here and talk to you." He said leaning his elbow back on the counter top. His electric blue eyes stood out drastically against his black hair. "Maybe even convince you to be willing to model for me a bit?" Jacobi put his hand on his camera and held it up a bit, the shiny black surface gleaming in the light. He took pride in his pictures, and his camera was one of his most prized posessions. It was undoubtedly his most expensive thing he owned, coming in at about 6 hundred dollars.
Letting his camera gently fall back to his stomach, he ran a hand through his hair and ruffled it lightly. He bit on the inside of his piercings again as he looked around at what was within reaching distance. He nabbed a book off the counter that was a few feet away, since he didn't want to be rude and attempt at grabbing the one Jay was reading. Of course it was a vampire against werewolf book. What books today aren't on the whole vamp thing?
He held it up. "Let's chat for a bit, and if your boss or whatever comes over, you can say I was asking you about the book." Cobe said with a small shrug.

youwantyourfreedom TAKEIT that'swhati'mcountingon IUSEDTOWANTYOUDEAD - - - Jay snorted. Modeling? Most definitely not his thing. He had this tendency to frown, and had problems looking at himself in the mirror, let alone letting someone create little copies of him on paper. He shook his head. “Why so persistent? I’ve all ready turned that idea down. I’m not photogenic, you’d only be wasting your time,” James yawned. He leaned forward on the counter, making sure his hair fell into his eyes so they couldn’t be seen. He looked at Jacobi with skepticism. “I don’t trust you in the slightest. But do what you’d like. I need to sort books,” James said. He pulled a box onto the counter between them and began separating by author and hardcover and paperback. His eyes kept flitting back to Jacobi, though, slight interest and curiosity in them. Finally, watching Jacobi, he gave a very small, very rare smile of his that said he was actually enjoying the idea of something. ”If you help me meet new people around this town,” he said, “I’ll do what you’d like. Model, hang out, whatever. I’m new here so I don’t know anyone, your job is pretty easy.” Jay yawned, leaning against the counter again and stacking a few copies of the complete works of William Shakespeare. James pushed the pile aside, moving down to rest his hands on the counter. “What do you say?”

Jacobi smiled at the proposition Jay made. He nodded and shrugged before answering. "Yeah, sure." he agreed. In a swift movement, he turned around, leaning his back against the counter and faced the whole store. It was, in a way, interesting to look at. It looked cool to see one part of the store filled with books from the past, visibly old and breaking down, with it's old style calligraphy in the shiny gold writing, and the dull blacks and browns of the hardcovers. And then it switched to current paper backs and hard covers of all different colors of the rainbow, with modern titles and in all sizes. Two complete opposites coming together and making it work, against all odds. That would make some beautiful pictures.
Turning back around, he eyed Jay. "If you don't like people, then how come you want to meet more?" He asked curiously. Deciding his camera was getting in the way of him resting comfortably against the counter, he picked it up from it's hanging position and set it down ever so carefully on the counter top. Jacobi looked at the stacked books, reading each title and racking his brain for any sign of familiarity. He found none, and came to the conclusion that he had never read any of those books, and the authors didn't sound familiar either.
He hadn't realized that he'd been "in the zone". He had been concentrating on trying to remember, but couldn't. He was biting the inside of the left spider bite and most likely raising his eyebrows in some odd way. Realizing he had been doing this, he looked down, slightly embarrassed. He felt his cheeks get slightly warm, and guessed they were probably taking on a shade of pink. Jacobi cursed himself inside his head, even though he knew he couldn't necessarily control his cheeks getting red, but still. He absent mindedly poked at his camera, impatiently waiting for his blush to subside.
